Questions
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Theryn — alpha access, how to connect, versions, community, and accounts.
Getting started
Can I play right now?
Theryn is in active alpha. Access is limited and by invitation — apply on the Alpha page and we will reach out if you are selected for the current wave. Not everyone is accepted immediately, but we keep applications on file for future rounds.
How do I connect to the server?
Use play.theryn.org in Minecraft Java Edition. Alpha testers receive connection details by email once accepted. You can copy the address from the homepage or Stats page.
What Minecraft version do I need?
Theryn runs on the latest stable Java Edition release supported by our Paper server. Alpha testers are notified of the exact version when invited. We do not support Bedrock Edition at this time.
Do I need mods or a resource pack?
Theryn is primarily vanilla-plus — no mods required to join or play. We may recommend optional client tweaks during alpha. Simple Voice Chat is optional for proximity voice — install the mod from [Modrinth](https://modrinth.com/mod/simple-voice-chat) if you want it; you can still play without it.
Alpha testing
What is alpha testing?
Alpha is an early, limited phase before public launch. Testers explore unfinished builds, find bugs, and give honest feedback on gameplay, pacing, and the feel of the world. Expect rough edges — that is the point.
How do applications work?
Fill out the form on the Alpha page with your name, email, Minecraft username, and a short note about your experience. We review applications in batches and email selected testers with access details.
Is Theryn free to play?
Yes. Theryn is free to play. Optional supporter tiers with cosmetic perks only may exist in the future — never pay-to-win gear or shortcuts.
Community and rules
What commands can I use in-game?
See the full searchable list on the Commands page at theryn.org/commands — spawn, claims, quests, lore tools, economy, and more. Portable workstations and random teleports are intentionally disabled.
Where is the Discord community?
Our Discord server is being set up. Visit Discord for now — we will update the link with a direct invite when the community hub is ready.
What are the server rules?
Be respectful, do not grief or cheat, and treat other citizens with the same curiosity and hope the world is built around. Full rules are available in-game — ask the Archivist at spawn or use /rules when connected.
Your account
Why should I create a Theryn account?
An account lets you save your display name and Minecraft username (for alpha matching), manage your profile, and stay connected as member features grow. Create one here.
How do I link my Minecraft account?
Sign in at /account, join Theryn in-game, and run /link to get a 6-character code. Enter that code on your account page within 10 minutes to verify your Java Edition identity. Your skin and username will appear on stats leaderboards.
How do I get launch updates?
Subscribe to The Chronicle newsletter in the site footer or homepage. We send occasional emails about alpha openings, dev milestones, lore drops, and server events — no spam.
